Quebec, Old City

July 23 - 25:  We now understand why people told us that once you arrive in the "Old City" you will not want, or need, to leave it.  Its history is palpable, and every intersection is a photo-op.  Hope you enjoy our pix.  Single/Double click to enlarge image.

Evening, July 25:  It was a wet rainy day in Quebec, so not a lot of photo-ops.  That said, the evening hours spent over dinner was magical.  Donna made reservations at the Frontenac for dinner in their Champlain Restaurant.  We decided to go early for a drink at the hotel bar before dinner ... the weather was too wet and blustery to walk so we got a cab ride.  The main tavern was noisy and packed with people, and there was a Wait List just for the bar!  Karl charmed the hostess and explained we were early for the Champlain Restaurant but wanted to enjoy a cocktail before dinner.  The hostess disappeared for a moment, then came back to the station and asked us to follow her ... she found us a very cozy table in the corner of Bistro Le Sam (another restaurant adjacent to the main tavern) ... very cool, and how accommodating!  Thus the evening commenced ... a glass of campaign for the lady, and a martini for the gentlemen.

Dinner time!  Another hostess escorted us into the Champlain Restaurant ... she gave us a brief history lesson and she took us right past the main dining room ... hmm!   She walked us into quiet semi-private room with only six tables and seated us at the center window of
this special room that over looked the plaza.

Karl was awestruck, asking Donna what she instructed the restaurant when she made an "online" reservation?  She said simply "window seat, if possible S'il vous plait."  There were only two other couples in the room the entire evening ... wow, Donna has connections.
